We are establishing a new PayPal Ads division to drive the growth of our advertising business. With a dedicated organization responsible for our comprehensive suite of advertising products, PayPal Ads will empower merchants and brands to reach and convert our highly engaged user base across PayPal, Venmo, and Honey platforms in multiple markets, revolutionizing global commerce.

About the role

PayPal Ads is looking for a seasoned ads data strategist with a track record of building visionary audience, measurement and insights products for advertising businesses. You love to connect with advertisers and to make them smarter based on your understanding of PayPal audience, measurement and insights products. You will own the audience, insights and measurement strategy for the PayPal Ads organization and ensure that teams and individuals work towards the shared AIM strategy of the Ads business. You'll lead the development of PayPal Ads' AIM strategy based on a deep understanding of the ads industry and partner with the sales, account and operations teams on the campaign specific execution of your strategy at efficient scale. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, including sales, operations, finance, product, engineering, and marketing. We seek a high-performing team leader who drives results rapidly while delivering profitable growth for the PayPal Ads business. In this role, you have the opportunity to significantly extend PayPal's value proposition to our three-sided network while being instrumental in developing our new advertising business for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Build the long-term vision for audience, measurement and insight for PayPal Ads based on a deep understanding of advertiser needs
  • Work backwards form these advertiser needs and implement insights and measurement programs to enable advertisers to better understand and engage with our audiences across all on- and offsite PayPal Ads surfaces and to improve the benefits of using PayPal Ads as an advertising platform
  • Partner with external measurement and data providers to implement and complete the strategy
  • Provide thought leadership to intern and external collaborators spanning large and small advertisers, sales, marketing, operations and tech teams
  • Define and establish new measurement approaches to demonstrate the power of the PayPal Ads platform
  • Work with the dedicated PayPal Ad Sales and Account Management organization to enable them to sell and retain clients based on measurement and insights
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of measurement and insights products that enhance advertising effectiveness and ROI
  • Ensure high data quality standards, data integration, and data management practices
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Operations, Product, Engineering, Legal) to implement data-driven projects and campaigns
  • Work closely with legal on data privacy

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing Research, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least 15 years of experience in data analysis and data product development, ideally in an AdTech environment
  • Deep understanding of the advertiser, agencies, and advertiser branding and performance needs
  • Network and close working relationships with advertising technology companies, including measurement providers, DMPs, CDPs, CMPs etc
  • Audience, measurement and insights visionary with a proveb rtrack record of defining and implementing new standards
  • Strong knowledge of data management, data architecture, and ETL processes
  • Proven experience in developing and launching data products
  • Proficiency with BI tools (eg, Tableau, Power BI) and data analysis platforms
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex data concepts effectively
  • Successful track record building out strategies and partnerships from 0 to 1
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a high degree of comfort engaging with technical leaders internally and externally
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into the essential points to inform executive decision-making
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed organization
  • Superior relationship-building and exceptional consultative skills with a passion and hunger to win
  • Results-oriented, analytical, self-motivated, and a "hands-on" person with a proven ability to meet objectives and targets
  • Travel required, as necessary, for customer-facing activities and team collaboration
  • Recognize and understand critical cultural approaches to doing business globally
  • Executive presentation skills; including in-person, written, and verbal
