Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, the SEC Segment Reporting Lead is responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of segment financial information in compliance with SEC regulatory requirements. This role is critical to ensuring that the company’s segment reporting accurately reflects the financial performance and balance sheet position of each segment. The SEC Segment Reporting Lead will collaborate closely with the CFO, CAO, FP&A, Financial Reporting, and other key departments, to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Additionally, this role will support the FP&A Team in reviewing and updating Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and cost allocation methodologies and participate in special FP&A projects as requested by Senior Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and analyze monthly financial results for each operating segment, ensuring accurate segment performance information in the financial statements. This include preparing balance sheets, P&Ls, and key ratios by reportable segment.
  • Provide insights and explanations to senior management regarding segment performance, trends, and variances versus prior quarters.
  • Use the company’s organizational profitability tool (e.g., AXIOM EPM) to measure the performance of business units and support centers.
  • Ensure the AXIOM tool integrates updated cost allocation methodologies to properly distribute overhead and support expenses across all lines of business.
  • Incorporate Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) monthly results into profitability reports by business unit, explaining main variances versus prior quarters.
  • Develop and maintain capital allocation methodologies for each reportable segment.
  • Lead the preparation of segment reporting in SEC filings, including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, and other required disclosures. This includes the preparation of required tables and narratives of the MD&A section, in collaboration with the Financial Reporting team.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP standards related to segment reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation and support for all segment reporting processes, ensuring that all disclosures and reviews are well-documented and supported.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls over segment reporting processes, identifying, and mitigating risks, as necessary.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the segment reporting process, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay up to date with SEC and U.S. GAAP regulations related to segment reporting.
  • Support FP&A in reviewing and updating Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and cost allocation methodologies to reflect current market conditions and the company’s organizational structure.
  • Participate in special FP&A projects as requested by Senior Management.
  • Assist Financial Reporting and Investor Relations with quarterly information for the earnings calls and SEC filings.
  • Perform various ad-hoc analyses related to Segment profitability.
Minimum Education and/or Certifications Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Post-graduate degree or certification (e.g., MBA, MS, or CPA) is highly desirable.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

5-7 years of experience in FP&A with a strong focus on segment profitability. SEC reporting and segment disclosure experience is highly desirable.

Technical and/or Other Essential Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, SEC, FP&A, and Financial Reporting.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.

Proven experience in managing segment reporting in a publicly traded company.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with ability to work independently.

Organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Workiva.

Experience with financial systems such as AXIOM EPM System, Fiserv MPC, SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, or similar profitability software.
