Job Description:

Your way to impact

The FSI Senior Fraud Intelligence Analyst will play a critical role in the identification, research, and mitigation of emerging fraud trends targeting PayPal and Venmo platforms. By leveraging advanced threat intelligence methodologies, data analysis, and investigative techniques, you will proactively uncover the tactics, tools, and techniques used by sophisticated threat actors to perpetrate fraud at scale. Your insights will be essential in shaping PayPal's fraud detection and prevention strategies and strengthening the broader global security posture. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including internal fraud detection experts, data scientists, engineers, and external partners, to analyze fraud trends, track criminal networks, and identify the underlying patterns that drive fraudulent activity across the platform.

Your day to day will include:

• Conducting deep dives into internal fraud data, correlating intelligence signals with patterns of abusive activity.

• Monitoring and analyzing global fraud intelligence sources to identify emerging fraud tactics and threat actor methodologies.

• Mapping new fraud tactics to existing fraud trends, identifying shifts in threat actor behavior and adapting detection capabilities.

• Partner with cross-functional teams, including fraud investigators and data scientists, to share intelligence findings and help drive coordinated responses to emerging threats.

• Investigate and profile high-risk fraud actors and networks across PayPal and Venmo, identifying key tactics, attack vectors, and relationships between fraud rings.

• Provide actionable intelligence to strengthen PayPal's fraud prevention and detection systems.

• Engage with external law enforcement, industry partners, and intelligence-sharing groups to exchange threat intelligence, stay abreast of the latest fraud trends, and contribute to the broader security community's efforts in combating financial crimes.

What do you need to bring-

• Proven experience in fraud detection, threat intelligence, cybersecurity, or related fields.

• Skilled in performing exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.

• Strong analytical and investigative skills, with experience in mapping fraud trends to real-world attack tactics.

• Strong SQL experience to create and maintain dashboards for fraud typology tracking.

• Proficiency in Python. Experience with manipulating data, interacting with API's, and writing proof-of-concept (PoC) code to complete the desired objective

• Proficiency in Splunk. Writing queries to extract unique intelligence signals and developing dashboards to monitor trends.

• Strong understanding of the financial services industry, payment processing systems, and online payment fraud tactics.

• Team player, energetic personality, curious, able to work efficiently in a fast paced, changing environment.
