JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a talented Senior Study Manager to join our Minerals and Metals business, preferably located in either Salt Lake City or Houston but other locations will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have superior Minerals and Metals concept, Pre-Feasibility & Feasibility experience, and strong leadership skills. Specific knowledge and experience with lithium extraction and processing would be advantageous.

This Senior Study Manager will be responsible for the study life cycle of Minerals and Metals projects, from Concept Phase to Definitive Feasibility Studies and will assist in tender and proposal preparation, and have overall responsibility for overseeing the development of budgets, schedules and reports as well as for the management and coordination of study staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, efficient and timely completion of studies to meet and/or exceed client expectations. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement the Study execution strategy to ensure the overall project scope of services and scope of work is performed in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner that meets and/or exceeds client expectations
  • Work closely with the studies team, to ensure that the:
    • cost estimate portions of all levels of studies, are completed to the required standard and proposed timeframes.
    • levels of studies, as assigned by manager, are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure the study team take an innovative and capital efficient approach to the development of the project
  • Ensure study progress and costs are closely tracked to ensure corrective action is taken at the appropriate time.
  • Undertake site visits to the project location if required
  • Co-ordinate the generation of specifications for enquiries on mechanical equipment
  • Coordinate the compilation of bills of quantities and the issue of tender documents to prospective constructors.
  • Responsible for study report deliverable structure and content.
  • Work closely with the client throughout the study to ensure no surprises.
  • Appoint consultants in areas where specific expertise is required.
  • Responsible for risk management; coordinate risk analyses and HAZOPs, as required.
  • Coordinate compilation of capital and operating cost estimates, and coordinate inputs to financial model.
  • Responsible for the handover of a study to the Projects Department once Wood has been awarded the execution phase of the project.
  • Assist in business development activities.
  • Motivate and engage with study team members to ensure alignment and focus toward the same goals


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in project development within a process plant project environment.
  • Hydrometallurgical experience, in a project environment is highly desired.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in a project or study management role
  • Good working knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera planning system
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Possess effective leadership skills, good interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment and with people at all levels
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and make sense of vague requirements
  • Ability to prioritize/balance multiple complex tasks & demands
  • Clear, logical thinker with the ability to make good decisions under pressure
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong track record of successful project completion
  • High level of self-awareness, emotional maturity and resilience
  • A willingness to travel for varying durations and at times to remote locations
