The Software Engineer - Satellite Positioning is responsible for delivering differentiation through technology in our products and service delivery. He/she develops software/hardware/algorithms to support Fugro products, services, and data processing. He/she translates user stories into technical designs and architectures and then implements them. He/she ensures that after implementation the desired outcome is achieved. He/she ensures engineering is carried out to company standards and actively contributes to continuous improvement of the engineering processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Developing and implementing new software/hardware solutions and products.
  • Maintaining and improving existing software/hardware solutions and products.
  • Providing 3rd-level support for existing software/hardware solutions and products.
  • Testing software/hardware solutions and products to ensure requirements are met to an acceptable standard.
  • Recommending improvements to existing products as necessary.
  • Collaborating and working closely with team members to eliminate silos and develop cross-functional culture within the team.
  • Ensuring engineering is carried out to company standards and actively contributes to continuous improvement of the engineering processes.

Job Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Have 2 or more years of development experience.
  • Previous experience with both C and C++.
  • Fluent in some combination of C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python.
  • Experience working with Linux.
  • Experience in configuring & administering CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) systems, is desirable.
  • Well versed in real-time distributed system architectures and technologies is desirable.
  • Experience with some form of modern user interface frameworks is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of unit testing frameworks is desirable.
  • Experience with GIT is desirable.
