REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Plant Operations (Plant Manager)

BASIC JOB PURPOSE:
The Sr Manager, Operations is responsible for the leadership and direction of manufacturing for Women's Health and Liquid Media businesses at the Mebane, NC plant. This position coordinates the utilization of direct manufacturing, packaging, warehouse and material handling labor to ensure plant goals are accomplished and are in alignment with business objectives. The Sr. Manager is accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Financial performance, enhancing organizational capability through BD Excellence (Lean), and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Leads and drives all production activities and establishes manufacturing priorities to achieve quality, cost, and customer service results within a safe working environment.
2. Develops budget and manages financial performance for areas of responsibility.
3. Develops strategies to drive efficient and effective use of capital and labor.
4. Provides on the job coaching to direct reports. Helps identify areas of opportunity and implement changes to improve performance.
5. Provides tools and training for areas of responsibility.
6. Collaborates cross functionally with Safety, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Product Support, CI, HR and Finance to implement processes and deliver results.
7. Creates and fosters a Culture of Quality throughout the manufacturing organization to ensure that customer and regulatory requirements are met.
8. Establishes a working environment that fosters continuous improvement.
9. Provides communication to the Manufacturing and Warehouse teams on the state of the business, plant goals and business strategies.
10. Implements recognition, performance appraisal, and accountability systems.
11. Actively participates on plant leadership team and drives the behaviors aligned with the BD Way

JOB DIMENSIONS:
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, fluency in interpreting and modeling the BD values, ability to seek input from others, ability to relinquish control, and knowledge of current and anticipated customer needs.
• Works closely with all department leaders that directly or indirectly support Manufacturing.
• Job requires independent thought and execution, with little supervision.
• Success depends on the ability to work effectively in a highly cross-functional and matrix-oriented environment, leveraging the knowledge of functional experts within BD as appropriate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's Degree in business, management, or a technical field.
• 8+ years progressive experience in technical and management roles.
• Previous experience in an FDA-regulated (cGMP) industry.
• Proven experience in people development and leading cross functional teams
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• Experience with TPM, Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Master's degree in business or management
• Experience with SAP: eCOMMS, MRP, Manufacturing and Maintenance modules
• Knowledge and experience with the BD Quality system or equivalent
• Knowledge of technical writing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
• Will supervise a group of individual contributors, leads, and supervisors or managers across multiple shifts.
• Must be available to come in on night shift periodically.

Main Responsibilities:
• Provide direction and support for all aspects of the site operations including but not limited to: production, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safety, environmental, maintenance, engineering, and training.
• Assist with maintaining or achieving ISO certification (13485) at the site.
• Maintain FDA registration for the facility.
• Manage local regulatory requirements and ensure necessary licenses are obtained and maintained.
• Establish and implement procedures for the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste generated at the site.
• Promote and encourage a positive work environment, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with outside vendors providing services at the site.
• Participate as a member of the Corporate Emergency Response Team (CERT).
• Develop and administer effective employee relations strategies.
• Ensure proper documentation practices are followed at the site.
• Coach and mentor staff on BD values, ethics, and compliance.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Previous experience managing a manufacturing operation preferred.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25%-50%.
• Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and influence people across the organization.
• Proven success influencing change management initiatives.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Preferred Requirements:
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations and GxP guidelines.
• Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of Good Documentation Practices.
• Knowledge of basic OSHA regulations.
• Training or experience in the use of SAP software.
• Project Management skills.
