Standardized Patient Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The College of Osteopathic Medicine and The Learning and Assessment Center (LAC), serving the four healthcare professional colleges (COM, CHM, CON and CVM), is seeking an innovative and collaborative member to join our team in the role of Standardized Patient Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide oversight of all aspects of the standardized patient program focused on supporting the evolving needs of LAC stakeholders. The Standardized Patient Program Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director of the Learning and Assessment Center. The Standardized Patient Program Coordinator will participate in the direction of the SP Program including managing, coordinator and monitoring activities involving simulated patients (SPs). The Coordinator will be involved in all instructional and operational aspects of the SP Program to include recruitment, hiring, onboarding/orientation, training, and evaluation of Standardized Patients. The ideal Coordinator possesses exemplary communication skills, is innovative, self-directed, and able to assume a wide range of administrative responsibilities.

Roles and responsibilities include:
* Assume primary responsibility for coordination of the Standardized Patient Program; develop reports and present data regarding SP pool and initiatives; Coordinate and implement quality improvement initiatives; Ensure best practices established by professional association(s); Develop policies and procedures; Participate in strategic planning for the SP program
* Assume primary responsibility for recruitment of SPs from diverse demographic populations; Establish relationships with community leaders; Facilitate hiring process and associated procedures; Lead orientation and onboarding of new SPs; Develop training and educational materials; Track, facilitate and document regular performance evaluation of SPs
* Provide oversight for scheduling of SPs for multiple sites according to need, priorities and SP competencies; Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders to ensure curricular needs are met
* Provide ongoing feedback to SPs and SP trainers; Coordinate educational and professional development of SP trainers and SP pool by continuous needs analysis and facilitation of updates/workshops/seminars, etc.
* Maintain expertise and serve as a leader in the field of SP methodology by continuously seeking out and completing professional development programs; Facilitate professional development programs for SPs and other stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Theory and Methodology and/or a specialization in the designated area of expertise; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web-based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in supervision, database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge regarding use of Standardized Patients (SP) in healthcare education; Experience with case development and/or assessment tools; Knowledge of educational theory, principles and methods of adult education.
