Job Summary
The Storekeeper II fills orders by picking, packing, stocking and staging material; stocks shelves and cages with the appropriate material upon their receipt to include but not limited to wood, sheet metal, and gases; receives material in AIM and Banner as required; responsible for UPS ship outs and product returns for the PPSB storeroom. This position provides leadership and demonstrates expertise for two or more functional areas (receiving, counters, pick and packing, returns, issuing stock, stocking shelves, and loading and unloading).
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Receives loads, unloads, returns, stores and/or issues a variety of general items, hazardous items (such as gases) and special order items.
2. Issues stock and special orders as requested, accurately fills out and processes paperwork, obtains appropriate signatures on stock orders and special orders.
3. Checks stock against shipping and authorizations for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions, and conformance to purchase orders.
4. Receive material and special orders in Aim and Banner.
5. Stocks the PPSB Storeroom according to established methods.
6. Operate a lift truck and/or forklift efficiently and safely
7. Mark articles with identifying codes, figures or letters when required.
8. Record data such as purchase order number, date received and date issued. Follows procedures as established by Stores and Receiving for processing purchase orders, stores requisitions and picking tickets.
9. Refer situations involving major deviations form established methods to a supervisor and make recommendations suggesting course of action to be taken.
10. Demonstrate resourcefulness in adopting storekeeping methods to handle items, locate reference material sources, and provide solutions to problems presented.
11. Make recommendations concerning alignment of services to operating needs.
12. Conduct Cyclic, special and other inventories of bin and bulk locations.
13. Process UPS returns for Special Orders and stock orders as required.
14. Count, weigh or grade products as appropriate.
15. Train and assist assigned personnel. Provide leadership in work activities of stores personnel and/or student help engaged in performing tasks.
16. Be back up for counters, receiving, and stocking storerooms.
17. Perform related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Walking : Constantly Lifting/Carrying : Constantly Pushing/Pulling : Constantly Bending/Stooping : Frequently Squatting/Crouching : Frequently Additional Physical Demands1. Be able to lift over 50lbs, organize and place these items in storage for later use.
2. Be able to spend a large part of the workday on concrete floors.
3. On awkward or heavy items, employee should not try to lift or move too much without the help of a fellow employee, forklift, hoist, or dollies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to that performed at the Storekeeper I level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of materials stocked.
- Ability to interact with customers, vendor representatives, and delivery companies.
- Ability to operate computers, manual/power pallet jacks, walk behind fork lifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Pays attention to inventory control issues in the receipt and dispensing of materials.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3318 - Storekeeper II position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salary is determined by a collective bargaining agreement; the current hourly rate for this position is $24.53. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
