Job Description:

The Student Equity & Compliance Specialist (Specialist) serves as a member of The Chicago School's Student Success team. Founded in 1979, The Chicago School is an independent, non-profit institution with a dynamic student body and a professionally accomplished faculty.

The Specialist assists in helping to build sustainable, just-in-time, targeted supports to promote student persistence and success in the program area domains. The Specialist maintains collaborative, professional relationships with faculty and other student-facing departments to implement programs, services, and activities consistent with the University's mission, strategic goals, and regulatory requirements.

The Specialist must exercise a high degree of responsibility, show sharp attention to detail, and use independent judgment.

This is a hybrid position. The Specialist must work on-campus two to three days per week. Please find the campus locations at https://www.thechicagoschool.edu/in-the-community/locations/.

Responsibilities

· Support the Director in coordinating key programs and services in domains including but not limited to disability services, Title IX services, and compliance-related services.

· Provide just-in-time support to students in need, guiding them to and through university resources and services in a supportive and caring way.

· Develop and coordinate community education related to disability services for students and the campus community through programming, events, and presentations.

· Support the Director by:

· Analyzing documentation, providing referrals, approving reasonable accommodations or modifications, and connecting students with services to support their academic goals.

· Conducting individualized assessment and analysis of requests for reasonable accommodations under ADA and modifications under Title IX.

· Providing guidance and support to students with respect to relevant federal and state laws and regulations governing accommodations and modifications.

· Managing school compliance efforts related to annual notifications (FERPA, consumer disclosures, etc.) and ensuring the school's digital compliance notifications and resources are adequate and current.

· Maintaining student data, documentation, and related records for students with disabilities and for students seeking pregnancy-related Title IX modifications.

· Providing ongoing student case management through consultation, facilitation, and communication with students, faculty, and administrators on specific academic adjustments, modifications, and/or accommodations and services.

· Offering community training and support related to ADA accommodations and Title IX modifications.

· Provide support for campus events including but not limited to new student orientation, commencement, and student activities.

· Coordinate student events, including scheduling, collaborating with academic departments on presentations, coordinating check-ins, and leading student and staff volunteers.

· Adhere to university rules, federal regulations, SOPs, and Chicago School policies and procedures.

· Participate in university initiatives as directed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Evidence of culturally competent practice and demonstrated ability to serve the needs of diverse students, especially those holding historically marginalized identities.

· Ability to juggle multiple competing demands and set priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining superb attention to detail.

· Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a diverse team, always with flexibility, enthusiasm and determination.

· Ability to deploy excellent communication and interpersonal skills with varied audiences.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.

· Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.

· One to two years of work experience in higher education disability services, Title IX, compliance, or similar.

· Earned bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited institution.

Compensation & BenefitsThis opportunity is budgeted at $$25 to $29 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
