Job Description:
This classification level is responsible for monitoring, coordinating activities, arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings. Responsibilities may include providing assistance to Probation Officers, contact with clients, scheduling, collecting, disposing, and maintaining records of urine specimens; conducting drug screenings; maintaining the inventory of testing supplies and equipment testifying in court; reporting and documenting testing results; ensuring documentation procedures are done in accordance with policies and procedures; and providing training on testing result documentation.
JOB DUTIES
1.Assist Probation officers with client contact and scheduling activities.
2.Greets clients, collects testing forms and accompanies to drug testing area.
3.Conduct drug screening in accordance with established systems and procedures using approved testing methodologies. This includes obtaining urine specimen from Probationers, recording, and reporting results.
4.Stores testing samples in secure location and ensures chain of custody procedures are observed at all times.
5.Maintains drug testing supplies and equipment inventory.
6.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in criminal justice, medical/laboratory, or a related area. OR One year of experience as a drug technician or related position.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior substance abuse or chemical testing training and working with the offender population
Other: Due to the duties for this specific position, only MALE candidates considered.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
