The Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO) for the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is responsible for the maintenance, care and operation of the buildings, grounds, and physical security enhancements of the U.S. Capitol Police, campus wide physical security infrastructure and an off-site campus supporting all legislative branch agencies. OCSO also manages the agency's internal security programs and policies, including personnel suitability and badging and liaises with other partners regarding security matters.
The Technical Writer advises management on and oversees the development and publication of security policies, standard operating procedures, documents, papers, and other information. Uses grammar references and agency communications policy.
** This position is contingent upon contract award **
Major Duties:
- Work with management to create policy documentation, guides, and manuals.
- Edits draft documents to ensure consistency within the document.
- Write and/or edit documents, and policies.
- Prepare documents for printing.
- Maintain electronic files of document drafts and final versions.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, content, format, and style.
- Responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts to create, edit, and revise materials.
- Perform other writing duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum of four (4), preferably six (6), years of demonstrated experience in technical writing, reviewing and/or editing of technical documentation in business, government, or industry.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Demonstrated formal editing experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to various audiences.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $64,700-$98,100. Multiple considerations are taken into account when determining the final salary/hour rate, including but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, education and certifications, relevant work experience, related skills and competencies, as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
