The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Tulane University Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for a tenure-track position as an Environmental Toxicologist. The successful candidate will specialize in investigating the mechanisms by which environmental factors influence human health and disease. The candidate would be expected to have or develop an active research program that leverages state-of-the-art approaches to understand molecular/cellular responses to emerging contaminants and life- style risk factors, contributing to our understanding of their impact on human health and to inform policy to reduce health risks.
We welcome research that complements our departmental focus on exposure science, immunology, occupational health, health security, environmental epidemiology and climate change.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain an active externally funded research program focused on elucidating the impact of environmental contaminants on human health and disease.* Conduct cutting-edge research on mechanisms in response to emerging environmental contaminants.* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to contribute to ongoing research initiatives in risk assessment, carcinogenesis, and epidemiologic research across the life span.* Teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in environmental toxicology, environmental health and related fields.* Provide service to the department, school, and university through committee work, participation in events, etc.* A doctoral degree in a related field of study.
* Strong research experience in investigating mechanisms in molecular toxicology, chemical carcinogenesis, human health risk assessment, environmental health, or a related field.
* A strong record of productivity and innovation as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or successful acquisition of extramural funding.
* Experience in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level in the discipline of environmental toxicology, environmental health sciences or a closely related field.
