JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood's Consulting business is currently seeking an Field Vibration Analyst/Engineer to join our Rotating Equipment Reliability team in Houston, TX. This is field-based position requiring the candidate be based (full time) at customer site near New Orleans, LA. We will consider qualified applicants from out of state for relocation.

The Field Vibration Analyst/Engineer will perform a variety of vibration data collection and problem-solving activities for different rotating and reciprocating machinery at the facility. This role provides excellent learning opportunities to grow in the machinery diagnostics and reliability world, and is an opportunity to work with industry-leading machinery and vibration experts. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge and experience of condition-based monitoring technologies such as vibration, lubrication and thermography analysis
  • Experience with developing rotating machinery asset database for setting up a vibration monitoring program
  • Perform vibration analysis by acquiring vibration data using different data acquisition hardware and their software applications preferably Scout analyzer & System 1
  • Evaluate operational issues by evaluating vibration data, process conditions, machine performance, maintenance data and customer communication
  • Routing vibration testing and evaluation of rotating machinery including compressors, pumps, gas and steam turbines, gearboxes, motors, engines and other equipment for a large facility near New Orleans, LA.
  • Interact with operations, maintenance, and inspection personnel
  • Perform equipment vibration and performance assessments for rotating equipment packages
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards
  • Implement and adhere to Wood - Vibration, Dynamics & Noise (VDN) HSSE policies and best practices at all work sites
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to speak directly to the issue and to adapt to work environment and customers' communication style
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with customers. Strong customer focus and the desire to go the extra mile


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of job-related experience
  • Vibration CAT-II certification is required
  • Mechanical Engineer or Technologist (BSME or BSMET) will be an asset
  • Good knowledge of vibration fundamentals and interest in investigating and troubleshooting vibration problems, with basic understanding of performance, reliability, and maintenance issues
  • Ideally have exposure to vibration data acquisition systems and their software, in the industry preferably Scout analyzer and System 1
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Position requires relocation to New Orleans, LA and working full time at a client facility providing vibration monitoring services.
  • Ideally understand rotating machinery including reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, reciprocating and centrifugal pumps, gas and steam turbines, gearboxes, motors, engines and other equipment
  • Proficient in standard windows software and ideally have some understanding of software related to vibration data acquisition systems
  • Valid driver's license with good driving history
  • Current passport with eligibility to travel
  • May involve heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Frequent climbing, standing, stooping and/or bending,
  • Two-handed simultaneous operations, and good hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to see details at close range, listen to instructions, and quickly & repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine.
  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
