Position Title: Specialist 1: Student Services (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 24 hours per week)

Department: Single Parent Pathways to Success (SPPS) - Downtown Campus

Rate of Pay: $18.65/hour

Closed Date: January 09, 2025; 5:00 PM Arizona Time

Position Summary:

The Student Services Specialist for Single Parent Pathways to Success (SPPS) provides comprehensive student services and administrative support. This includes providing information about the SPPS scholarship process and eligibility as well as maintaining program records and preparing reports. This position will work with the Student Services team to help streamline the scholarship process and guide students through college systems and available resources. Additionally, the role conducts scholarship outreach and recruitment, and participates in special projects.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.

This is a 9-month position. Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as first point-of contact; monitors and responds to a variety of student inquiries using online services, email, and phone
  • Provides information and assistance to faculty, staff, students, and the public regarding application procedures and scholarship eligibility requirements
  • Addresses student concerns and refers students to appropriate campus resources. Escalates concerns to supervisor as needed
  • Maintains and updates confidential files and records
  • Researches, compiles, and summarizes data for a variety of reports
  • Assists with accurate processing and distribution of scholarships
  • Conducts recruitment and outreach for the SPPS scholarship by sharing flyers, tabling at events, and other related activities
  • Participates in the development of a monthly newsletter and shares information about campus resources, events, and workshops with scholarship recipients via email
  • Supports with coordination of family-centered events, workshops, trainings, career fairs, and additional projects or activities
  • Provides input on the development of program procedures and resources
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and
  • Up to One year of related experience
Preferred
  • One to three years of related experience
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
  • Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Skill in positive, productive and flexible customer service. Skill in analyzing data and drawing conclusions
  • Ability to apply effective and accurate data entry and typing skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships
  • Ability to operate relevant equipment required to complete assigned responsibilities for the position
